The park is home to more than 325 species of trees, shrubs, and cacti, as well as a wide range of flowering plants that add color and beauty to the landscape.
One of the highlights of Bryant Park is the annual flower show held in May, showcasing a stunning array of flowers arranged in intricate designs. Don't miss the vibrant collection of exotic and native plants inside the greenhouse, and if you're visiting with family, the special play area for kids is sure to delight.
Coaker's Walk: A Scenic Stroll with Panoramic Views
Our final destination is Coaker's Walk, a scenic pedestrian path offering breathtaking views of the valleys and mountains surrounding Kodaikanal. Constructed by Lt. Coaker in 1872, this narrow, winding path is one of the most popular attractions in the area.
On a clear day, you can see Dolphin's Nose, a unique rock formation that juts out over the valley, as well as the distant town of Madurai. The views are especially stunning during sunrise and sunset, providing ample opportunities for photography enthusiasts to capture the beauty of Kodaikanal.
For a small fee, you can use the telescope at the designated viewpoint to get a closer look at the surrounding scenery. The cool breeze and peaceful environment make Coaker's Walk an ideal spot for relaxation and contemplation.

We begin our journey at Bryant Park, a botanical garden that boasts over 325 species of trees, shrubs, and cacti. Next, we visit the Our Lady of La Saleth Shrine, one of the oldest and most significant religious sites in Kodaikanal. Built in 1866 by French missionaries, this shrine is dedicated to Our Lady of La Salette. The architecture is a fascinating blend of traditional Tamil and French styles, featuring intricate carvings and stunning stained glass windows. It’s a place of peace and reflection that holds historical importance.
Our journey continues to the breathtaking Kodaikanal Lake, a star-shaped man-made lake at the heart of the town. Created in 1863 by Sir Vere Henry Levinge, the lake covers an area of about 60 acres and is a hub of recreational activities. From boating to cycling around the 5-kilometer path encircling the lake, there's something for everyone. The calm waters and scenic surroundings make it a must-visit spot.
As we descend, we encounter the mesmerizing Silver Cascade Falls, a natural waterfall cascading down the hills near Kodaikanal. Situated along the route from Madurai road to Kodaikanal, Silver Cascade Falls is renowned for its shimmering appearance as sunlight reflects off the cascading water, giving it a silvery sheen. Fed by the overflow from Kodai Lake, this waterfall offers a refreshing and picturesque sight, making it a popular stop for tourists exploring the area.
Also known as the Shenbaganur Museum, this establishment was founded in 1895 and is managed by Sacred Heart College. It houses a rich collection of artifacts, relics, and exhibits that highlight the cultural, geological, and natural history of the region. The museum's origins trace back to Father Usselinx, a Belgian priest dedicated to preserving Kodaikanal's heritage.
One of the most spectacular sights in Kodaikanal is the Thalaiyar Falls, also known as Rat Tail Falls. Plunging from a height of approximately 975 feet, this waterfall is one of the highest in India. The viewpoint offers a breathtaking vista of the falls cascading down the rocky cliffs, surrounded by dense forests and rolling hills.
The Manjalar Dam Viewpoint offers a serene view of the tranquil waters and scenic surroundings of Manjalar Dam. The expansive reservoir, surrounded by verdant landscapes and rolling hills, creates a peaceful and idyllic atmosphere perfect for photography and relaxation.
Our exploration wouldn't be complete without visiting the Dolmen Caves. These ancient rock formations provide a fascinating glimpse into the early human habitation of the region. The large, stacked rocks form shelter-like structures believed to have served as dwellings or burial chambers for ancient tribes. Archaeological studies suggest these caves were used for rituals, ceremonies, and as resting places during nomadic lifestyles.
