During our visit to Abu Dhabi, we headed to Yas Island to explore Yas Mall and get a closer look at the iconic Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
Yas Mall is one of the major shopping and entertainment destinations on Yas Island and is directly connected to Ferrari World. The combination makes this area a great place to spend some time exploring, shopping, dining, and enjoying the attractions.
As we walked through Yas Mall, we could see the distinctive red roof of Ferrari World. Inspired by the famous Ferrari logo, the massive structure is one of the most recognizable landmarks on Yas Island.
Although we did not enter the ticketed theme park area, we were able to explore the surrounding areas, walk around, take photos and videos, and enjoy the Ferrari-themed atmosphere.
We could also see some impressive Ferrari cars and displays, which added to the experience. For automobile enthusiasts and Ferrari fans, seeing these cars up close is certainly a highlight.
There are also souvenir shops and other stores in the area where visitors can browse and purchase Ferrari-themed merchandise and other items. Yas Mall itself offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, making it worth exploring even if you are not planning to visit the theme park.
Ferrari World is famous for its thrilling rides and attractions, particularly Formula Rossa, one of the world's fastest roller coasters. Visitors who want to experience the rides and attractions need to purchase a ticket to enter the theme park. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk before entering the park.
For our visit, we simply enjoyed the surroundings, explored the mall, checked out the Ferrari displays and shops, and captured some memorable photographs.
Even without entering the theme park, the combination of Yas Mall and Ferrari World provides plenty to see and experience. The impressive architecture and Ferrari-themed surroundings make this a great stop while exploring Yas Island.
Our visit was a short but enjoyable experience, and it gave us an opportunity to see one of Abu Dhabi's most recognizable attractions while exploring Yas Mall.

Fireworks have always been a special part of Indian celebrations, bringing together lights, colors, excitement, and wonderful memories. In this video, we enjoyed a small fireworks celebration at home with a few classic Indian fireworks.
Our celebration featured some of the most familiar and colorful types of fireworks. We started with the Phuljhari, or Indian sparklers, which create beautiful showers of sparkling light when held safely. They are simple, traditional, and loved by both children and adults.
Next were the Anars, also known as static color fountains. Once lit, they stay on the ground and produce beautiful fountains of colorful sparks. Watching the different colors and patterns emerge makes them one of the most enjoyable ground fireworks.
We also enjoyed Chakkars, the spinning ground wheels. These fireworks spin rapidly on the ground while producing sparks and bright flashes of light, making them a fun addition to the celebration.
To finish things off, we had Rockets, which launch into the sky and create a brief aerial display. Their sudden rise and burst of light add a little extra excitement to the evening.
It wasn't a large fireworks show or a grand celebration—just a small gathering at home with some traditional Indian fireworks. But sometimes, simple celebrations like these create the best memories.
From the sparkling Phuljhari to the colorful Anars, spinning Chakkars, and flying Rockets, this was a fun evening filled with lights and excitement.

The surroundings are beautifully designed, and as you walk through Riverland, each section offers a completely different atmosphere.
The area is divided into themed districts, including French Village, The Peninsula, Boardwalk, and India Gate. These districts are connected by walkways and bridges, creating a pleasant environment for an evening stroll.
Visitors can purchase an entry ticket to access Riverland, and the ticket value can be used towards food and beverages at selected outlets.
Mini World and T-Rex Glamping
One of the interesting attractions here is Mini World, where visitors can see miniature replicas of famous landmarks from around the world. The detailed models make this an enjoyable place to explore and take photographs.
Another unique experience is T-Rex Glamping, offering a dinosaur-themed glamping experience and sleepover. It is a fun option for families and children looking for something different from a regular hotel stay.

For families with children, LEGOLAND Dubai offers interactive rides and LEGO-themed attractions. Nearby, LEGOLAND Water Park provides water slides and family-friendly water activities.
There is also Neon Galaxy, a large indoor adventure playground where children can enjoy climbing structures, slides, tunnels, obstacle courses, and interactive play areas.

One of the most beautiful areas of Riverland is the French Village.

A Walk Through the Boardwalk
The Boardwalk takes visitors back to the atmosphere of America in the 1950s.
With its palm trees, colourful surroundings, neon signs, and impressive architecture, this area has a lively and vibrant atmosphere. Street performers and entertainment add even more energy to the experience.
It becomes particularly beautiful in the evening when the lights illuminate the streets.
Food, Restaurants and Entertainment
The World of Riverland offers a variety of restaurants, cafés, and food outlets.
One of the interesting themed restaurants is Pirates Tavern, where the pirate-inspired décor creates a unique dining atmosphere. During our visit, we could also enjoy performances that added to the experience.
As evening arrives, Riverland becomes even more lively. Different sections host musical and dance performances, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for visitors walking through the area.
The Evening Laser and Waterfall Show
One of the highlights of visiting Riverland in the evening is the laser and waterfall show.
Colourful projections and animal animations appear across the cascading water, creating a beautiful visual experience. Watching the lights and animations against the themed surroundings is a great way to end the visit.
We also came across the impressive camel statue, a Guinness World Record holder and one of the unique photo spots in the area.

A regular car cannot access many of the trails around Mamalakandam. The local jeeps are better suited for these rough and uneven roads.

The bumps, steep climbs, muddy tracks, streams, and narrow forest roads all add to the excitement and make this different from a typical Kerala sightseeing trip.
Best Time to Visit Mamalakandam

The final stop on our journey is the China Court.
This section features impressive Chinese-inspired architecture, vibrant colors, lanterns, and a magnificent decorated ceiling.
One of the most striking attractions is the large Chinese Treasure Ship suspended above the court. It represents the maritime expeditions and connections between China and other parts of Asia.
The court also has numerous shops, restaurants, and cafés, making it a lively area within the mall.
More Than Just Shopping
Although Ibn Battuta Mall is home to a wide variety of shops, restaurants, cafés, and entertainment options, its greatest attraction is arguably its architecture.
Unlike conventional shopping malls, the experience here is about more than shopping. Visitors can admire historical references, cultural designs, sculptures, fountains, and architectural details while moving from one themed court to another.

Our Journey to The View at The Palm
Our journey began with the Dubai Metro, one of the easiest ways to travel around the city. We got off at Dubai Internet City Metro Station and transferred to the Dubai Tram, which connects passengers to Palm Jumeirah.
The next step was to board the Palm Monorail, the scenic railway that runs along the trunk of Palm Jumeirah. Unfortunately, the monorail was temporarily closed for maintenance during our visit. Instead, we took a taxi from the tram station to Nakheel Mall, which is directly connected to The Palm Tower.
The drive itself was enjoyable, passing luxury residences, hotels, and beautifully landscaped streets that make Palm Jumeirah one of Dubai's most prestigious neighborhoods.
Nakheel Mall – The Gateway to The View
Before heading to the observation deck, we spent some time inside Nakheel Mall. Opened in 2019, the mall features hundreds of retail stores, restaurants, cafés, and entertainment options, making it much more than just a shopping destination.
The mall also serves as the main entrance to The View at The Palm. Clear signboards guide visitors to the attraction, making it easy to find the entrance.
The Story Behind Palm Jumeirah
Palm Jumeirah is one of the world's largest artificial islands and one of Dubai's most ambitious engineering projects.
Developed by Nakheel, construction began in 2001 using millions of cubic metres of sand and rock reclaimed from the Arabian Gulf. Instead of using concrete for the island itself, engineers relied on advanced GPS-guided technology to accurately place the sand and shape the island.
The finished island resembles a giant palm tree, consisting of:
A central trunk
Seventeen residential fronds
A crescent-shaped breakwater that protects the island from sea waves
Today, Palm Jumeirah is home to luxury villas, apartments, beach clubs, world-class restaurants, and internationally renowned resorts.
An Interactive Introduction
Before reaching the observation deck, visitors walk through an engaging multimedia exhibition.
The displays explain the inspiration behind Palm Jumeirah, the challenges engineers faced during construction, and how this incredible project transformed Dubai's coastline. Interactive models, videos, and digital presentations make the experience informative even before stepping onto the observation deck.
Reaching the Observation Deck
After the exhibition, a high-speed elevator carries visitors to the 52nd-floor observation deck, approximately 240 metres above ground.
As the elevator doors open, visitors are greeted by one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Dubai.
For the first time, the complete shape of Palm Jumeirah becomes visible. The trunk stretches toward the mainland, while the seventeen fronds branch into the Arabian Gulf, all protected by the crescent-shaped outer breakwater.
It's a perspective that's impossible to experience from the ground.
Views That Stretch Across Dubai
The observation deck offers incredible views in every direction.
Looking toward the end of Palm Jumeirah, you'll immediately notice Atlantis, The Palm, one of Dubai's most iconic luxury resorts. Its grand architecture and waterfront location have made it a symbol of Palm Jumeirah since its opening.
Standing nearby is the impressive Atlantis The Royal, a striking modern resort known for its unique stacked design and luxurious amenities. It has quickly become one of Dubai's newest architectural landmarks.
Turning toward the mainland reveals the impressive skyline of Dubai Marina, filled with towering residential skyscrapers and bustling waterfront developments.
On clear days, visitors can also spot Ain Dubai on Bluewaters Island. Although the giant observation wheel is currently not operating, it remains one of the most recognizable landmarks along Dubai's coastline.
Further away, the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab rises elegantly from its own artificial island, reminding visitors why it has become one of Dubai's most photographed buildings.
The observation deck provides outstanding opportunities for photography, especially during sunrise, sunset, and the golden hour when the city is bathed in warm light.

While Palm Jumeirah itself is impressive from street level, only an aerial viewpoint truly reveals the scale and beauty of this engineering masterpiece.

One of the first landmarks visible along the route is the famous Skydive Dubai Drop Zone. This is one of the world's most popular skydiving destinations, where thrill-seekers jump from thousands of feet above the city while enjoying spectacular aerial views of Palm Jumeirah and Dubai's coastline. The journey then takes us past Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), one of Dubai's busiest beachfront neighborhoods. With its beautiful sandy beaches, luxury hotels, restaurants, and lively promenade, JBR is a favorite destination for both tourists and residents.
As we continue further, the incredible Palm Jumeirah comes into view. This world-famous artificial island, designed in the shape of a palm tree, is considered one of the greatest engineering achievements in modern history. Seeing it from the sea provides a unique perspective that simply cannot be experienced from land.
Standing proudly at the entrance of the Palm is the luxurious Atlantis, The Palm. Its distinctive architecture and prime location have made it one of Dubai's most iconic hotels and one of the city's most photographed landmarks.
Soon after, another architectural masterpiece appears on the horizon—the legendary Burj Al Arab. Built on its own artificial island, this sail-shaped luxury hotel has become a global symbol of Dubai and represents the city's ambition, innovation, and luxury.
Throughout the tour, the captain slows down near each major attraction, giving everyone enough time to take photographs and enjoy the incredible scenery before continuing the high-speed adventure across the Arabian Gulf.

Hotel Pickup and Journey to the Desert
Our adventure began at 1:30 PM, when our safari vehicle picked us up directly from our hotel. Leaving behind the modern skyline of Dubai, we drove towards the famous Lahbab Desert, located about an hour from the city.
Known for its towering red sand dunes, Lahbab is considered one of the best locations in Dubai for desert activities. As the scenery changed from highways to vast stretches of sand, the excitement continued to build.
Quad Biking Across the Red Dunes
Our first stop was the quad biking area.
Riding a quad bike across the open desert is an experience unlike any other. The powerful bikes allow you to explore the sandy terrain at your own pace while enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding dunes.
Whether you're riding for the first time or have previous experience, quad biking offers an exciting way to experience the beauty of the desert.
Red Dune Dune Bashing
Next came the highlight of the safari—Red Dune Dune Bashing.
We climbed into a specially prepared 4x4 vehicle driven by an experienced driver, and within moments the adventure began. The vehicle raced over steep dunes, climbed towering sand hills, and descended sharp slopes with incredible precision.
The feeling is similar to riding a roller coaster, except this one takes place entirely on sand. Every turn, climb, and drop adds to the excitement, making dune bashing one of Dubai's most popular adventure activities.
Sandboarding in the Desert
After the thrilling ride, we stopped at one of the large dunes for sandboarding.
Sliding down the soft sand is easy to learn and enjoyable for visitors of all ages. Even if you've never tried it before, the gentle sand makes it a fun activity with plenty of laughs.
The stop also provides an excellent opportunity to capture photographs of the endless red dunes stretching across the horizon.
Sunset Over the Arabian Desert
As evening approached, the desert transformed into a breathtaking landscape of golden and orange colors.
Watching the sunset over the dunes is one of the most peaceful moments of the safari. The calm atmosphere and changing colors create some of the best photography opportunities of the entire trip.
Traditional Desert Camp Experience
By around 6:15 PM, we arrived at a beautifully designed desert camp inspired by traditional Bedouin culture.
We were welcomed with refreshing drinks along with traditional tea and coffee, giving us a chance to relax before exploring the camp.
There were several activities available throughout the evening.
A short camel ride offered a glimpse into the traditional mode of transport used in the Arabian Desert for centuries.
Ladies could also have beautiful henna artwork applied to their hands, with skilled artists creating intricate floral and traditional Arabic designs using natural henna.
Guests interested in a more traditional Middle Eastern experience could also enjoy sheesha, available in designated smoking areas within the camp.
Evening Entertainment
As darkness fell, the entertainment began.
The first performance was the colorful Tanoura Dance, where the performer continuously spun while wearing brilliantly illuminated costumes. The precision and endurance of the performance made it fascinating to watch.
The excitement continued with a spectacular Fire Show, featuring impressive fire tricks and breathtaking stunts that kept the audience captivated.
The evening concluded with an energetic Belly Dance, accompanied by lively music that added to the festive atmosphere of the camp.
BBQ Buffet Dinner
While enjoying the live performances, guests were invited to enjoy a delicious BBQ and buffet dinner.
The buffet included a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, grilled barbecue items, fresh salads, desserts, and traditional Middle Eastern favorites. It was the perfect way to end an action-packed day in the desert.

Kerala is blessed with countless natural wonders, but few places capture the beauty of the state's landscapes quite like the Athirappilly, Charpa, and Vazhachal Waterfalls. Located in the Thrissur district along the scenic Chalakudy River, these three waterfalls are just a few kilometres apart, making them an ideal destination for a one-day road trip. During the monsoon season, the route transforms into a paradise of lush forests, flowing streams, and roaring waterfalls.
Our journey began at the famous Athirappilly Waterfalls, often called the Niagara of Kerala. After purchasing the entry tickets, the first viewpoint offered a magnificent long-distance view of the falls. Even from afar, the sound of the rushing water and the rising mist hinted at the incredible experience that awaited us. Having visited Athirappilly during summer in the past, the difference was remarkable. The water flow had been relatively small then, but during the monsoon, the waterfall was flowing at its full strength, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
Athirappilly Waterfalls is one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala, with the Chalakudy River plunging nearly 80 feet over rocky cliffs before continuing through the dense Sholayar forests. The surrounding greenery, cool breeze, and constant roar of the water make it one of the state's most iconic natural attractions.
From the entrance, we reached the main parking area, which was crowded because of the holiday season. The five-minute walk to the top viewpoint is easy, thanks to the well-paved pathway. Along the route, visitors will find small shops selling refreshments and souvenirs. Monkeys are also common in this area, so it's advisable to avoid carrying food openly. Safety barricades have been installed near the viewpoint, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery while maintaining a safe distance from the powerful river.
The panoramic view from the top is truly unforgettable. Watching thousands of litres of water plunge into the gorge below, surrounded by dense tropical forests, is an experience that photographs can never fully capture.
One of the highlights of visiting Athirappilly is the walk down to the base of the waterfall. Depending on weather conditions, the trail may be closed during periods of heavy rainfall for safety reasons. When open, the walk takes around 10 to 15 minutes through a beautiful forest path. The descent is fairly comfortable, although climbing back up requires some effort.
As we walked through the woods, the continuous sound of the waterfall echoed through the trees, building anticipation with every step. By the time we reached the bottom, rain had started falling once again. The combination of cool rain, drifting mist, and the thunderous roar of the waterfall created an unforgettable atmosphere. Standing so close to the powerful cascade truly showcases the raw beauty and energy of nature.
After spending time at Athirappilly, we continued our journey to Charpa Waterfalls, located just one kilometre away. Unlike Athirappilly, Charpa is a roadside waterfall that can be admired almost immediately after parking. During the monsoon, water rushes powerfully between the rocks, creating a spectacular view even from a distance.
Walking onto the nearby foot-over bridge provides an even better perspective of the falls. The sound becomes louder, the cool breeze carries tiny droplets of water, and visitors can truly appreciate the force of the flowing river. During periods of heavy rainfall, Charpa becomes so powerful that water can splash onto the adjacent road, making it one of Kerala's most photogenic roadside waterfalls. In contrast, during the summer months, the waterfall becomes much smaller and may reduce to only a gentle flow.
On the drive between Charpa and Vazhachal, we came across a small stream flowing peacefully through the forest. Although it isn't a major attraction, these little natural scenes add to the charm of the journey and remind visitors that the beauty of this region extends far beyond the famous waterfalls.
Our final destination was Vazhachal Waterfalls, situated about five kilometres from Charpa. Visitors can enter using the same ticket purchased for Athirappilly. Compared to the dramatic vertical drop of Athirappilly, Vazhachal offers a completely different experience. Here, the water spreads across broad rocky formations, creating wide, gentle cascades surrounded by thick tropical forests.
The peaceful atmosphere at Vazhachal makes it an excellent place to relax and enjoy nature. The area is well maintained by the Forest Department and includes landscaped gardens, walking paths, viewing platforms, restrooms, and small shops. As we explored the surroundings, the rain returned once again, making the lush green forest even more vibrant and refreshing.
Vazhachal also serves as the gateway to the scenic road leading towards Valparai. Visitors planning to continue along this route must obtain permission at the Forest Department check post before proceeding through the protected forest area.
The best time to visit Athirappilly, Charpa, and Vazhachal is between June and October, when the monsoon brings these waterfalls to life. During this period, the water flow is at its strongest, and the forests surrounding the Chalakudy River are covered in vibrant shades of green. Visitors should wear comfortable footwear with good grip, carry rain protection, and always follow the safety instructions provided by the authorities.
A journey through Athirappilly, Charpa, and Vazhachal is much more than simply visiting three waterfalls. It is an opportunity to experience Kerala's forests, rivers, wildlife, and monsoon landscapes in their purest form. Whether you're a nature lover, photographer, or someone looking for a peaceful escape, this waterfall trail offers memories that will last long after the journey ends.
Fort Kochi is a destination where history, culture, and modern attractions come together beautifully. During my recent visit, I spent a wonderful day exploring the historic streets of Jew Town, visiting centuries-old landmarks, enjoying delicious food, and ending the day with a scenic Water Metro ride.
Our journey began at the historic Mattancherry Palace, popularly known as the Dutch Palace. Originally built by the Portuguese in 1555 as a gift to the Raja of Kochi and later renovated by the Dutch, the palace is famous for its traditional Kerala architecture and magnificent mural paintings. The murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and various Hindu legends are considered among the finest examples of Kerala mural art.
After exploring the palace, we stepped into the charming streets of Jew Town. The narrow lanes filled with antique shops, spice stores, handicraft outlets, and colonial-era buildings create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Kerala. Walking through these historic streets feels like stepping back in time.
At the end of Jew Town stands the iconic Paradesi Synagogue, built in 1568 and still functioning today, making it the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth. The synagogue is famous for its hand-painted Chinese tiles, beautiful Belgian chandeliers, and ancient Torah scrolls. Before entering the main synagogue, visitors can also explore a painting hall that beautifully portrays the long-standing relationship between the Jewish community and the Kochi Maharajas.
By the time we finished exploring the synagogue, it was already past 2:30 PM, and it was the perfect time for a lunch break. While searching for a nearby café, I came across Mocha Art Café, a cozy and artistic space in the heart of Jew Town. Known for its vibrant interiors and relaxed atmosphere, the café is popular among both locals and tourists. I enjoyed a delightful lunch there while taking in the creative surroundings.
After lunch and a little more exploration around Jew Town, it was past 3:30 PM and I decided to experience the much-talked-about Kochi Water Metro. I took an auto to the Fort Kochi Boat Terminal and purchased a ticket to the High Court Terminal for just ₹40. The journey takes around 20 minutes one way and offers beautiful views of Kochi's waterfront.
One of the highlights of the ride was the opportunity to see the famous Chinese Fishing Nets, or Cheena Vala, from the water. These iconic fishing nets have become one of the most recognizable symbols of Fort Kochi and are a must-see for every visitor.

Since we visited on a weekday evening, the beach was pleasantly peaceful. There were fewer visitors, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed walk while taking in the fresh sea breeze and scenic surroundings. As sunset approached, the sky turned into beautiful shades of orange and pink, creating a perfect backdrop for photography.
La Mer also features a variety of cafés and restaurants where visitors can enjoy delicious food while overlooking the beach. Whether you're interested in relaxing, taking photos, or simply enjoying the sunset, La Mer offers a refreshing break from Dubai's busy city life.
