Our journey began as we entered Meghalaya from Guwahati, where the landscape slowly transformed into rolling hills, mist-covered valleys, and endless greenery.

One of the first stops along the way was Umiam Lake, a vast reservoir surrounded by hills. Calm, scenic, and peaceful — it’s the perfect introduction to the natural beauty of Meghalaya.

💙 Krang Suri Waterfalls – A Hidden Blue Paradise

Nestled in the Jaintia Hills, Krang Suri Waterfalls is one of the most stunning waterfalls in the region.

What makes this place special is its turquoise-blue water, created by limestone minerals. A short walk through greenery leads to the falls, where visitors can even swim with life jackets.

Standing here feels surreal — as if you’ve stepped into a hidden paradise.

🏕️ Dawki River & Shnongpdeng Camping

One of the highlights of our journey was the Umngot River in Dawki, known for being one of the cleanest rivers in Asia.

At Shnongpdeng, we stayed in riverside tents, surrounded by nature. The experience of camping beside such a clear river is unforgettable.

Boating here is magical — the water is so transparent that boats appear to float in mid-air.

We also visited the Indo–Bangladesh border, where a simple rope separates two countries — a quiet yet powerful experience.

🌉 Mawryngkhang Bamboo Bridge Trek – A Thrilling Adventure

For adventure lovers, the Mawryngkhang Trek is a must.

This trek features narrow bamboo bridges and ladders built along mountain cliffs, with the river flowing below. There are no railings — just balance, focus, and trust.

The trek leads to U Mawryngkhang, also known as the “King of Stones,” surrounded by stunning landscapes and local folklore.

One of the most powerful sights in Meghalaya is Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India.

A short but steep trek leads to Wei Sawdong Waterfall, a stunning three-tiered waterfall.

One of the most iconic experiences in Meghalaya is the Tyrna Trek, leading down over 3,000 steps into the village of Nongriat.

A trip to Dubai would never be complete without visiting the iconic Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Standing at an incredible height of 828 meters, this architectural marvel dominates the skyline of Dubai and attracts millions of visitors every year. During our visit, we explored the observation decks of Burj Khalifa, enjoyed the famous fountain show, and later experienced the thrilling Sky Views Observatory.

Exploring Dubai Mall

Our journey began at Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in the world. Located right next to the Burj Khalifa, the mall is not just a shopping destination but a massive entertainment complex. From luxury brands to restaurants and entertainment zones, there is so much to explore here.

One of the highlights inside the mall is the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, where visitors can see a wide variety of marine life swimming inside a massive aquarium tank. After spending some time exploring the mall and aquarium, we stepped outside to witness the majestic Burj Khalifa up close.

The Dubai Fountain

Just outside the mall, at the base of Burj Khalifa, lies the spectacular Dubai Fountain. This choreographed fountain show is one of the most popular attractions in Dubai. The powerful jets of water dance in perfect harmony with music and lights, creating a magical experience for visitors gathered around the lake.

Watching the fountain with the towering Burj Khalifa in the background is truly an unforgettable sight.

At The Top – Burj Khalifa Observation Deck

After enjoying the fountain area, it was time for the highlight of the visit — going up to At The Top. The observation deck located on the 124th and 125th floors offers breathtaking panoramic views of Dubai.

The journey to the top begins with a high-speed elevator ride. Along the way, visitors can see displays and exhibits explaining the vision behind the construction of Burj Khalifa, the materials used, and the various stages of its development.

Once at the top, the views are absolutely mesmerizing. From the observation deck, you can see the vast Dubai skyline, the desert stretching into the distance, and the busy city streets far below. At night, the view becomes even more magical as the skyscrapers light up and the city glows beneath you.

The 124th floor also has an open viewing area where visitors can feel the breeze and enjoy unobstructed views of the city. From here, you can even look up and see the remaining height of the Burj Khalifa towering above.

Visiting Sky Views Observatory

After experiencing Burj Khalifa, we headed to the nearby Sky Views Observatory, another exciting attraction in downtown Dubai.

Located on the 52nd floor of the Address Sky View building, this observatory offers a completely different perspective of the Burj Khalifa. From here, visitors can enjoy incredible views of the tower and the surrounding cityscape.

One of the most thrilling features of Sky Views is the glass floor walkway, where visitors can look straight down at the city below. It’s an exciting experience that adds a touch of adventure to the visit. The observatory also features a glass slide connecting two levels, giving visitors a fun and unique way to move between floors.

A Must-Visit Experience in Dubai

Visiting Burj Khalifa and Sky Views Observatory is truly a memorable experience. From the breathtaking views at the top of the world’s tallest building to the thrilling glass-floor views of Sky Views, these attractions showcase Dubai’s modern architecture and ambition.

Journey to Hemkund Sahib – From Joshimath to the Sacred Himalayan Lake

 

Nestled high in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, Hemkund Sahib is one of the most revered pilgrimage destinations in India. Situated at an altitude of about 4,632 meters (15,197 feet), this sacred Sikh shrine is surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks and a serene glacial lake that reflects the beauty of the Himalayas.

Our journey to Hemkund Sahib begins from the mountain town of Joshimath, a well-known base for many Himalayan pilgrimages and treks.

The road journey from Joshimath to Govindghat is relatively short but incredibly scenic. The winding mountain road follows the course of the Alaknanda River, with dramatic views of deep valleys and towering mountains.

Govindghat serves as the main gateway for two popular Himalayan journeys — the pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib and the trek to Valley of Flowers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its vibrant alpine flowers.

Pilgrims, trekkers, and travelers gather here to begin their adventure into the high Himalayas.

Govindghat to Pulna – The Starting Point of the Trek

From Govindghat, the journey continues to the small mountain village of Pulna. This short stretch can be covered by local shared jeeps or taxis.

Pulna marks the starting point of the trekking route, where the road ends and the mountain trail begins.

The path gradually climbs through dense forests, alongside rushing streams and waterfalls, offering stunning views at every turn.

Trekking from Pulna to Ghangaria

The trek from Pulna to Ghangaria is approximately 9–10 kilometers and follows a well-marked mountain trail.

As you move deeper into the mountains, the landscape becomes more dramatic. Wooden bridges cross roaring streams, misty forests surround the trail, and the sound of waterfalls echoes through the valley.

Despite the steady uphill climb, the beauty of the surroundings makes the journey enjoyable and memorable.

Ghangaria is a small yet vibrant village that serves as the base camp for both Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers. Most travelers spend the night here to acclimatize before attempting the steep climb to Hemkund Sahib.

The Challenging Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib

The final stretch from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib is about 6 kilometers, but it is significantly steeper and more demanding.

The trail climbs rapidly through rocky terrain, with breathtaking views of snow-covered mountains and alpine meadows along the way. Due to the high altitude, the air becomes thinner, making the climb physically challenging.

However, the determination of pilgrims and the spiritual significance of the destination keep everyone moving forward.

Ponies and palanquins are also available for those who need assistance during the climb.

Arrival at the Sacred Hemkund Sahib

After the strenuous ascent, the first glimpse of Hemkund Sahib is truly magical.

The Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara, with its unique star-shaped architecture, stands beside a crystal-clear glacial lake surrounded by seven majestic mountain peaks. The peaceful environment, combined with the cold mountain air and the sound of prayers, creates an incredibly spiritual atmosphere.

Pilgrims often take a dip in the icy waters of the lake before entering the Gurudwara, believing it to be spiritually purifying.

The Gurudwara also offers Langar (community meals) to visitors, continuing the Sikh tradition of serving food to all.
