Dubai is known for its record-breaking architecture, futuristic skyline, and ambitious engineering projects. Among all its iconic landmarks, Palm Jumeirah stands out as one of the city's greatest achievements. While you can drive along its roads or stay in one of its luxury resorts, the best way to truly appreciate its remarkable palm-tree design is from above. That's exactly what The View at The Palm offers.
Located on the 52nd floor of The Palm Tower, this observation deck provides breathtaking 360-degree views of Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, the Arabian Gulf, and many of Dubai's most famous landmarks.
Our Journey to The View at The Palm
Our journey began with the Dubai Metro, one of the easiest ways to travel around the city. We got off at Dubai Internet City Metro Station and transferred to the Dubai Tram, which connects passengers to Palm Jumeirah.
The next step was to board the Palm Monorail, the scenic railway that runs along the trunk of Palm Jumeirah. Unfortunately, the monorail was temporarily closed for maintenance during our visit. Instead, we took a taxi from the tram station to Nakheel Mall, which is directly connected to The Palm Tower.
The drive itself was enjoyable, passing luxury residences, hotels, and beautifully landscaped streets that make Palm Jumeirah one of Dubai's most prestigious neighborhoods.
Nakheel Mall – The Gateway to The View
Before heading to the observation deck, we spent some time inside Nakheel Mall. Opened in 2019, the mall features hundreds of retail stores, restaurants, cafés, and entertainment options, making it much more than just a shopping destination.
The mall also serves as the main entrance to The View at The Palm. Clear signboards guide visitors to the attraction, making it easy to find the entrance.
The Story Behind Palm Jumeirah
Palm Jumeirah is one of the world's largest artificial islands and one of Dubai's most ambitious engineering projects.
Developed by Nakheel, construction began in 2001 using millions of cubic metres of sand and rock reclaimed from the Arabian Gulf. Instead of using concrete for the island itself, engineers relied on advanced GPS-guided technology to accurately place the sand and shape the island.
The finished island resembles a giant palm tree, consisting of:
- A central trunk
- Seventeen residential fronds
- A crescent-shaped breakwater that protects the island from sea waves
Today, Palm Jumeirah is home to luxury villas, apartments, beach clubs, world-class restaurants, and internationally renowned resorts.
An Interactive Introduction
Before reaching the observation deck, visitors walk through an engaging multimedia exhibition.
The displays explain the inspiration behind Palm Jumeirah, the challenges engineers faced during construction, and how this incredible project transformed Dubai's coastline. Interactive models, videos, and digital presentations make the experience informative even before stepping onto the observation deck.
Reaching the Observation Deck
After the exhibition, a high-speed elevator carries visitors to the 52nd-floor observation deck, approximately 240 metres above ground.
As the elevator doors open, visitors are greeted by one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Dubai.
For the first time, the complete shape of Palm Jumeirah becomes visible. The trunk stretches toward the mainland, while the seventeen fronds branch into the Arabian Gulf, all protected by the crescent-shaped outer breakwater.
It's a perspective that's impossible to experience from the ground.
Views That Stretch Across Dubai
The observation deck offers incredible views in every direction.
Looking toward the end of Palm Jumeirah, you'll immediately notice Atlantis, The Palm, one of Dubai's most iconic luxury resorts. Its grand architecture and waterfront location have made it a symbol of Palm Jumeirah since its opening.
Standing nearby is the impressive Atlantis The Royal, a striking modern resort known for its unique stacked design and luxurious amenities. It has quickly become one of Dubai's newest architectural landmarks.
Turning toward the mainland reveals the impressive skyline of Dubai Marina, filled with towering residential skyscrapers and bustling waterfront developments.
On clear days, visitors can also spot Ain Dubai on Bluewaters Island. Although the giant observation wheel is currently not operating, it remains one of the most recognizable landmarks along Dubai's coastline.
Further away, the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab rises elegantly from its own artificial island, reminding visitors why it has become one of Dubai's most photographed buildings.
The observation deck provides outstanding opportunities for photography, especially during sunrise, sunset, and the golden hour when the city is bathed in warm light.
